The Drop Plectrum Concept
The Drop Plectrum was originally developed in 2009 as a direct response to a simple objective: to optimise energy transfer between the hand and the string.
Its teardrop geometry is not decorative. It follows a clear mechanical logic. When a plectrum strikes a string, it acts as a miniature lever. The way mass is distributed directly influences directional stability and the precision of the attack.
The wider rear section concentrates mass towards the back. This increases inertia and reduces micro-rotations at the moment of impact, keeping the plectrum stable along the axis of the stroke.
The progressive transition towards the tip creates a continuous curvature, with no abrupt angles. The force applied by the thumb and index finger flows naturally towards the extremity, improving attack consistency and limiting energy loss.
The shape also reflects anatomical reality. The pads of the thumb and index finger create a rounded contact area. The Drop adapts to this biomechanical geometry rather than imposing a rigid triangular profile.
The fine tip, supported by a substantial rear mass, allows precision and stability to coexist. Rear inertia stabilises; the tip refines. The Drop Plectrum is not an aesthetic variation, but a geometrical solution to a mechanical problem.
